About Mrs. Wooden
I am thrilled to be a part of the talented teaching staff at Bolin School as one of the fifth grade teachers. This is my first year in East Peoria School District 86.
Before coming to East Peoria, I was a teacher in Dunlap CUSD for five years and in Creve Coeur School District 76 for sixteen years, seventeen of those years in fifth grade. I am a 1997 graduate from Bradley University where I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education. In May 2012, I graduated with my master's degree as a Reading Specialist from Benedictine University.
When you walk into my classroom, you will see a positive thinking area where students are engaged in individualized, meaningful learning experiences. I modify my teaching strategies and lessons in order to differentiate instruction to accommodate all learning styles. I love to learn and my goal is to pass this love of lifelong learning onto my students.
I live in East Peoria with my husband, Patrick, and our daughter, Josie. Josie is in fourth grade this year. We have a dog, Lily, and a cat, Hazel. When I am not teaching or busy being a mom, I am an ambassador for Plexus Worldwide, a health and wellness company. I am also involved in community theater. I have been singing, dancing, and acting in musicals since I was sixteen, but I have also stepped off the stage and directed shows for Corn Stock Theater. I directed Grease at Cornstock Theater three summers ago! I was also Grace in Annie at Eastlight Theatre this summer! Another one of my hobbies is collecting antiques and vintage pieces for our home.
I live a full, happy life and am so thankful for all that I have!
